I am an Associate Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Aarhus University in Denmark leading the Distributed Computational Intelligence group. Previously, I was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Fellow (MSCF-IF) at the ALICE group at the Aston University in Birmingham, UK working on my European Commission funded H2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie project called SOLOMON, I held a post-doc position in the Cyber-physical Systems group of Prof Radu Grosu at the University of Technology Vienna, Austria, and I was a PhD student at the Pervasive Computing group of Prof Bernhard Rinner at the Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt, Austria.

In my work, I investigate self-awareness and self-organising properties for autonomous computational systems. This includes learning, decision making, and coordination in self-organised and self-adaptive systems, especially in rapidly changing environments. In this context, I am also interested in modelling behaviour, goals, and interaction of collectives using Digital Twins and adapt those during runtime according to the current situation. I draw inspiration for my computational methods in systems biology, developmental psychology, and problem solving in nature.
